Days of Caring 2021

Tulsa Area United Way (TAUW) hosts one of the nation's largest days of community service. Three Days of Caring
mobilize thousands of volunteers throughout the year to meet the community’s most pressing needs and give our nonprofit organizations a helping hand with a variety of projects.

March 27: DAY OF CARING IN SUPPORT OF GREENWOOD AND NORTH TULSA COMMUNITIES

On Saturday, March 27, more than 170 volunteers from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, Arthur J. Gallagher, Matrix Service Company, Spirit AeroSystems, Tulsa Area United Way, Tulsa Community College and Williams went to work in the Greenwood and North Tulsa communities during the year we are recognizing the centennial of the Tulsa Race Massacre.

Projects included:

  • An outdoor classroom for Global Gardens at Unity Learning Academy
  • Building improvements in the Greenwood District
  • Polishing historic business plaques in the Greenwood District
  • Making two Boys and Girls clubs better for the kids who learn and play there

In addition, almost 700 employees from Bank of Oklahoma and T.D. Williamson are volunteering remotely and writing Notes of Hope that will be delivered to staff and volunteers at six Tulsa Area United Way partner agencies.

A big thank you to Bank of Oklahoma for sponsoring our Notes of Hope again this year!

June 25: REGIONAL FOOD & BLOOD DRIVE

More than 2,200 donors contributed 42,000 pounds of food to our friends and neighbors in need during our June 25 Regional Day of Caring Food & Blood Drive. Food donations benefit the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and these Tulsa Area United Way partner agencies: Bristow Social Services, Broken Arrow Neighbors, Caring Community Friends, LIFE Senior Services, Okmulgee County Homeless Shelter, Inc., Okmulgee Country Family Resource Center, Owasso Community Resources, Sand Springs Community Services, and Wagoner Area Neighbors.

In addition, nearly 200 pints of blood were donated, providing life-saving medical care to approximately 575 people. It wouldn't have happened without your support!

DECEMBER: promoting holiday assistance & volunteer opportunities with partner agencies

Through these Days of Caring, Tulsa Area United Way will bring together groups of employees from Tulsa-area companies and connect them with the service agencies they support. Please join us for this much-loved volunteering tradition, now expanded to build even more teamwork and provide increased opportunity to demonstrate the philanthropic spirit of our community. Email lbollis@tauw.orgto learn how you can participate.

 WHY SHOULD YOU PARTICIPATE?

Involvement in Days of Caring develops teamwork and builds morale among employees while they give back to the community.

After participating in Days of Caring, the Tulsa Area United Way becomes more than a logo, pledge card or campaign rally, it becomes the means by which an individual can assist many people through one gift.

Days of Caring helps present the true face of people in need and the 59 partner agencies that serve them. Volunteers complete projects submitted by partner agencies, 501(c)(3) nonprofits, K-12 public schools and public parks. Everyone gets an up-close look to see how their TAUW contributions help our community each and every day.

Contact Lexi Bollis by email at lbollis@tauw.org to register or for more information.
