Challenge Grants

CHALLENGE YOURSELF

This year, you can double your contribution to the tulsa area united way through one of these giving challenges:

Leadership Givers

The Henry Zarrow Community Leadership Challenge:
funded by The Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation

This program, named in honor of Mr. Henry and his legacy of giving, will match any new Leadership gift of $500 to $9,999. It will also match any increased Leadership gift (i.e. an individual increasing their gift from $500 to $600 would have $100 matched). For 2020, we are creating a Leaders in Hope Club for those that increase their pledge of $500 or more by 20% this year. This increase amount will also be matched by the Zarrow Community Challenge Grant and we’ll have a special recognition gift for those joining the Club.

Alexis de Tocqueville Society

The Charles & Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation Tocqueville Step Up Program and New or Increased AdT Challenge:

Individuals may join also TAUW’s Tocqueville Society ($10,000+ individual contributions) with this step up program receiving Tocqueville Society benefits in the first year. Individual agrees to a two-year commitment to step up their personal giving to reach Tocqueville membership. The Foundation funds the step up portion of the gift. The pattern for step-up would be $5,000 in the current year, $7,500 in next year’s campaign and $10,000 in the third year. The match is used to fund the $5,000 portion for first year members and the $2,500 portion for second year members of the Step Up program.

This challenge grant also matches any increase from current members giving in 2019, including 2020 Heroes Club members, those who give 20% more or increase their gifts to $20,000.

The Rising Together Champions Club is for any Tocqueville Society member who increases their pledge from 1 to 19 percent and the increase portion will be matched as well.

Small & Medium-Sized Businesses

QuikTrip Challenge

This program encourages new campaigns at companies with 250 or fewer employees and help TAUW with its objective to grow the base of companies participating in the campaign by matching dollar for dollar any new gifts from businesses that haven’t participated since 2018 and any employee campaigns for companies currently ONLY giving a corporate gift.

The Tulsa Area United Way is grateful to these foundations and companies for providing generous challenge grants.
